Coach Paul has been at SF Elite since the Spring of 2023.

 

He currently serves as Head Coach 2012 Boys Blue and Orange. 

 

Paul’s coaching experience spans over 10 years.

 

Paul would say his soccer journey started during his childhood in Portugal, in the summer of 2004, coinciding with the Euros. Portugal hosted the tournament, and he can remember the excitement was palpable. He vividly recalls Portugal's journey to the finals, a memorable experience he shared with his grandfather. His grandfather and him would frequent a local bar to watch the matches together. Beyond spectating, he immersed himself in the sport by playing soccer in the streets with friends, while envisioning themselves as their favorite players. It was at that time his admiration centered around Pauleta, who held the position of his favorite player.

 

Since then he has coached in the Bay Area for Pacifica United SC, Star Academy FC, and Bay Area Surf. Paul also coached internationally in Portugal for Fundação Pauleta which is a club that was founded by Pedro Pauleta, the ex-top goal scorer for Portuguese National Team. 

 

Paul’s coaching philosophy is player-centered where he looks to develop the whole person both on and outside the field.

 

Paul’s education and coaching credentials include Bachelor’s in Kinesiology, USSF B, Certificate in Player Scouting Level 1, Certificate in Tactical Periodization, Certificate in Defensive Organization, Candidate for Masters in Kinesiology and Candidate for Teaching Credentials.
