  • How will I know if I’ve made a team?
All players should receive an email and possibly a phone call (likely for players on the top competitive teams only) within 48 hours. It is important that you list the best email address and phone number to reach you.
  • What should I bring to tryouts?
Players should wear soccer appropriate clothing and equipment—including cleats and shin guards—and be prepared for changes in weather. Additionally, all players should bring water and a soccer ball. It’s important to realize that with so many players trying out things can be hard to keep track of at the field. Keep any bags and valuables with a parent.
  • What happens AFTER my Tryout session has ended?
The coaches will thank the players for their attendance and effort. They will also, briefly, review next steps, all of which is included in this FAQ.
  • What should I expect at tryouts?
Include receiving a bib, having a photo taken, etc. The main thing to expect is to play soccer and have a good time. Each lead coach for an age group has a slightly different approach to running a tryout, but generally players can expect to have some time warming up, some time in a small-sided activity (smaller group) and the majority of their time in game play (whether small-field or bigger field game). During the tryout coaches may ask players questions. They are just trying to get a better understanding of players and being asked a question by a coach is usually a good thing. They also may move players from time to time. Coaches like to make sure other coaches get to see players, and all coaches need to see players in different situations and playing with different levels of other players.
  • Why is there such a short deadline to accept my spot on a soccer team in San Francisco?
Field usage in San Francisco is governed by SFRPD who set a deadline of May 21st to submit all paperwork required of registered players. The number of registered players directly defines the number of fields that SF Elite Academy is given for practice and games.
  • What does it cost to participate?
Fees are listed at this link
  • How can I learn about the coach for my team?
SF Elite coaches don't demand commitment, they inspire it. More than simply a coach, they are teachers, mentors, and role models who remain themselves enthusiastic students of the game. Our nationally-recognized staff includes highly qualified and licensed coaches who, in addition to years of youth club coaching, have international, professional, collegiate and high school experience.
